Give to an Orphan on Giving Tuesday

Join OSSO in making a difference in the lives of orphans on November 27, 2018

Orphanage Support Services Organization has joined Giving Tuesday for another year to kick off the holiday season with the spirit of giving. We have participated in Giving Tuesday in the past and have been able to raise money for basic needs of orphans in Ecuador and Thailand because of others’ generosity. We are excited to be able to participate again in this global event for 2018 and hope we can double our donations from last year!

Giving Tuesday harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. It is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

OSSO seeks to create a two-way bridge for those who can and want to help and those who need help. This is a wonderful and easy way to give to orphans without needing to travel anywhere.

Our goal this Giving Tuesday is to raise $1,500 for the orphans in Ecuador and Thailand in 24 hours. On average, infants will use 5-10 diapers each day. Disposable diapers cost upwards of $1,000 per year, per child. It is easily OSSO's biggest expense. Donations from the fundraiser will be used directly to buy diapers and wipes for the children. Wipes and disposable diapers are a great asset to an orphanage because, with so many children and not enough hands to help, diapers are not able to be changed as frequently as they should. Disposable diapers drastically help reduce diaper rashes by absorbing moisture and keeping the children cleaner. Please help our orphans be healthier and happier; donate to our diapers and wipes fund today.

We are also pleased to be partnering with MightyCause, a crowdfunding platform, to collect our Giving Tuesday donations. As such, we are eligible for cash prizes! Help OSSO win these Giving Tuesday prizes by donating and spreading the word. The more donations we receive, the greater our likelihood of winning!

More About #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday is a movement to celebrate and provide incentives to give, and the 2018 iteration will be held on November 27, 2018. This effort harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners — nonprofits, businesses, and corporations as well as families and individuals — to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

#GivingTuesday inspires people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities; give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they celebrate; and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a global moment dedicated to giving around the world.

We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
